Didn't all the hippies used to stand up for free speech? Now people want censorship for any ideas that threaten their beliefs. Just look at what has become of the ACLU (Hey BD- any comments?).

Not all speech in this country is free. They're called societal rules

I can answer that: it was truth to power, not any old speech (though in literature that has a place). So, civil rights for blacks was supported but entities aligned with racism were not, and in the climate of the 60s, no one figured you had to worry about the societal cost of any trampling of the free speech of racists and bigots. As with today, lies and fabrications solely designed for personal profit are viewed, rightly I think we'd agree, as unworthy of protection if significant societal harm follows from their spread.
BTW, when you listen to the Jerry of the late 60s, you hear his sincere (and naive) utopian aspirations that I always argue are entirely counter to the Jerry Tito or you saw in the 80s. There is no doubt that in 1970 he wanted us to have all the tapes for free...I am sticking with the original agreement we came to when I joined in 1971. He sent me a Christmas card, so I know it's legit (well, the secretary did anyhow).
😜

It's funny how all of a sudden I'm starting to agree with Bill Maher about things when in there past I despised him. I'm not sure if that says more about me or him!
I don't listen to Joe Rogan nor do I take medical advice from him or twitter trolls. However, he's free to interview folks who have a point of view on things and of course people like Neil F'n Young are free to pull their music (that he already sold!).
It sure seems like a lot of things that were fact a few years ago turned out to be not so ironclad after all. I still think Jerry would have said "let's hear what they have to say and make up your own mind"
Always good chattin' with you Tell.

I think it would be rather amusing fi the folks that actually now own Neil's music rights were to say " not so fast there Neil......"

“Before I told my friends at Warner Bros about my desire to leave the Spotify platform, I was reminded by my own legal forces that contractually I did not have the control of my music to do that,” Young wrote on his official website Wednesday. “I want to thank my truly great and supportive record company Warner Brothers – Reprise Records, for standing with me in my decision to pull all my music from Spotify. Thank You!”

Is that so? I don't know that he sold his rights. I read that Crosby could only give verbal support cause of that. I think that's called loss of leverage. 😎
